Women on the Move mentors taking part in the Feminist Voices Study Tour 2023
The expert study tour “Feminist Voices in Transport 2023” is taking place this year 2023 from the 27th of February to the 3rd of March in Berlin.
Women's voices and perspectives are crucial for sustainable transformation in each sector of society, especially in transport. Therefore, Women on the Move is proud that four outstanding women from Asia in the transport field are joining the "Feminist Voices in Transport 2023" study tour.
Remarkable women in the transport-development sector from different countries worldwide will participate in enabling dialogue and identifying how gender-transformative approaches support the global mobility transition and become a prerequisite for just mobility solutions.
Among the more than 20 women from all over the world, representative women of Women on the Move Network and active members of the newly launched mentoring program are bringing a perspective on transportation concerning women empowerment in Asia:
Dr. Ma. Sheilah Gaabucayan-Napalang, Urban and Regional Planning professor, University of the Philippines;
Keisha Mayuga, Director Altmobility PH, will participate in this study tour;
Dr. Kalpana Viswanath, co-founder of Safetipin and member of the Council for Decarbonising Transport in Asia; and
Sonal Shah, founder and CEO of The Urban Catalyst.
Dr. Ma. Sheilah Gaabucayan-Napalang
Dr. Sheila supports the development of sustainable transportation from a academic point of view, being a professor and director of the National Center for Transportation Studies of the University. She is also a member of movements, such as Women in Transport Leadership (WiTL).
Kaisha Mayuga
Kaisha participates in different movements related to sustainable transportation in the Philippines, such as AltMobility PH and the Move as One Coalition, and promotes bicycle transportation in the country, especially for women.
Dr. Kalpana Viswanath
Dr. Kalpana Viswanath supports the development of safe, inclusive, and innovative public spaces through intelligent data technology and the creation of sources like the MySafetipin App. She also takes part in different movements which promote women's rights and participation all over the world.
Sonal Shah
Sonal Shah has been active in the development of urban change with a focus on sustainable transportation for more than 18 years and with a multi-sectoral professional view, supporting projects on gender equality, universal access, and informality.
Their experience in Asia and point of view, contributes to the various aspects of transforming transport in the long term. The exchange will flourish the global knowledge exchange and inspire more initiatives for sustainable transport decarbonization.
